Using virtual reality and augmented reality, Expeditions explores history, science, the arts, and the natural world. Whether you’re roaming with dinosaurs or taking a look at Renaissance sculptures, there’s something amazing to explore for every subject. VR lets you explore the world virtually while AR brings abstract concepts to life—allowing teachers to guide students through collections of 360° scenes and 3D objects, pointing out interesting sites and artifacts along the way. For the full experience, users should download the Google Expeditions mobile app and purchase a Google cardboard viewer (or another VR viewer).

PROS

CONS

  • Purchasing a cardboard viewer may be difficult in some locations. (Many off-brand options are for sale outside of the United States, but these may be difficult to find.)

Google Expeditions is an fantastic learning tool that students anywhere in the world can use by simply downloading the mobile app. Even the simplified experience (without the cardboard viewer) offers amazing visuals.
